Transfer Requirements

The online application cycle for Spring 2013-2014 is now CLOSED. The Fall application cycle will open September 15th.

Students interested in applying to the School of Communication Studies (COMS) are encouraged to read the information on this website. If there are specific questions that are unanswered after reviewing the website, please make an appointment to meet with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies. Appointments are scheduled by speaking with her Administrative Assistant in Lasher Hall 022 or by calling 740-593-4842.

The School of Communication Studies reviews applications as follows:

  • Students must have a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.75 for consideration (applying with the minimum does not guarantee acceptance);

  • Students in their first year at Ohio University, i.e., with fewer than 30 credit hours, may apply for the March 15 cycle for transfer the following Fall semester (September);

  • Students who have completed more than 30 hours may apply by October 15 for transfer the following spring semester (January) or March 15 for transfer the following fall semester;

  • Students must apply online using the online form (the link is displayed above and to the right when applications are accepted).

  • Transfer students from another university must abide by the policies spelled out in the "Undergraduate Admissions" page at the beginning of the current university catalog.

University policy requires that processing the paperwork to change programs takes place only within the first 15 days of each semester, regardless of the application date.

Students interested in applying to the School of Communication Studies are encouraged to attend a Transfer Information Session. Fall dates and times will be posted at the beginning of the Fall semester.
