I am an Athens native who holds a true affection for Ohio University. The two degrees I have earned thus far have come from our very own green and white. In 2006, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in organizational communication with a focus on mass media and promotional health. Shortly after, I discovered my love for a new discipline and found myself in our sociology department. In 2008, I earned a Master’s Degree in sociology with a focus on women’s health in relation to social pressures.
After completing my coursework, I chose to enter the workforce on the west coast. What I didn’t realize was the challenges I would face entering the workforce during our nation’s economic crisis. I found myself working in administration for 5-diamond resorts in Carmel, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills. This is where I rediscovered my passion for communication. My mentors and colleagues with whom I worked were the most enthusiastic individuals I had ever met; ones who were truly dedicated to quality and service excellence. Their dedication, drive, and passion for hospitality inspired me to continue to pursue something for which I felt the same passion.
As a doctoral student, I plan to continue my focus and study women’s health on a more interpersonal level. I am thankful to be a part of such an amazing program with such a gifted group of faculty and students.
