I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Master of Arts degree in Speech Communication, emphasizing in Organizational Communication, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication, minor in Mass Communications. I also hold a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University in the philosophy of communication.
I am currently focusing my academic energies on organizational, interpersonal, and environmental communication. Specifically, I am interested in studying alternative forms of community organizing through small business incubators, environmental ethics, and organizational culture using qualitative methods from an interpretive standpoint. Courses I teach at the undergraduate level include public speaking, interpersonal communication, theories of communication, and interviewing.
When not attached to a computer or in the classroom, I enjoy being outside – hiking, walking, running, gardening, and socializing to build a sense of community. I like to surround myself with dogs, children, books, trees, friends, family, and good music. I also really enjoy attempting to cook.
