Sidi Becar Meyara

I am a Fulbright alumnus from Mauritania, West Africa. I completed a BA in Linguistics from Ohio University and went on to pursue a Master’s in African Studies.

I am interested critical theory, postmodernism, transnationalism, and rhetoric. My research interests lie primarily in studying power, especially power in the postcolonial space.

My final project for the Master’s program was a critique of Achille Mbembe’s views regarding power-subject relations in the postcolonial space.

When I am not doing school-related work, I like being around friends, playing pool and soccer. I am also an excellent cook who likes nothing more than enjoying a great meal with good company.
