I received my B.S in Health Science with a minor in Biology from Truman State University and a M.A. in Health Studies from The University of Alabama.
My education has provided me with a strong background in health education and behavior modification. In both my classwork and field experiences, I have focused on individual and population-based public and community health promotion and disease prevention through various projects such as: design of health education interventions, creation of mass media/multimedia health communications campaigns, health counseling, and evaluation of communities' health services.
I am interested in meshing my background in health education/promotion with the communication discipline: health communication, mass media campaigns, health literacy, and storytelling. I am also interested in narrative theory and the effects of health messages within health communication, particularly in the topic areas of risky behaviors and high risk seekers and oral health.
I enjoy traveling, ice skating, jogging, scrapbooking, spending time with my friends and family, eating great food, and watching college football!
